The heart of the story: journalism in changing times

“Whatever story it is, I always try and find a human angle.“

“I always try to humanize everything I do. So every story, whether it’s about bear attacks in Slovakia, or about the mass shooting here (..) I always humanise it.“

The interview conducted by Alicia González also features an in-depth interview with the BBC’s Prague correspondent, Rob Cameron, on the exploration of the art of storytelling with the advent of the digital age of journalism. The senior BBC correspondent straightens out on the dynamic world of journalism, emphasizing the intuitive nature of story selection and the impact of social media feedback. Covering crises, he discusses the emotional challenges and the need for humanity and mental health awareness. While social media connects stories to a wider audience, it can also distance journalists from the human aspect of their work.
